'End of the....' is a great record, leave it alone!
Can't believe I didn't know until today that the band had toured again. Saw them in Manchester, just after V2 but before Manic Pop Thrill, at the International. Seem to remember that Steve was a bit pissed off that there wasn't much dancing going on. And because of some members of the audience repeatedly called out for 'Teenage Kicks'. I was hooked though and saw them proabably at just about all of their subsequent Manchester gigs.
I think part of the reason I loved 'End of the...' is that I'd heard some of the funkier tracks live more than once and was very keen to have them on vinyl. Funnily enough I was talking to a friend on a train only yesterday and he was talking about his favourite gigs ever (Pink Floyd in Paris and Ike and Tina Turner if you're interested). I considered trying to describe the sheer joy of TPE live - the unexpected covers*, the changes of mood, pace, style etc etc., but it usually meets with incomprehension.
I hope more tours and more records are pending?
Oh - and congratulations Steve.

Big Decision, Genius Move, Hey Venus, It's A Good Thing, Keen, Sensitise, Cellophane.... ehhh.... I think those would have to be the best, in my opinion. Especially Genius Move. 'Start at house/ No. 5/ Dont look at me/ With those empty eyes...' Somebody's gotta post those lyrics.

The one problem with Psychosis Blues is its' muffled, subdued production. The songs could leap out at you, but they don't. This album is in dire need of a remix by some genius. Get some serious bottom for the rhythm section; the detail of Ciaran's drumming is criminally lost and the guitars are rendered lifeless.

REMIX! REMIX! REMIX!

Hi There,

Funny to see how "End Of The Millenium..." is slagged everywhere, even amongst fan sites... I can understand it was a harsh time for the band themselves, but hey, doomed records can have their strengths too ("Sooner Or Later", "Cellophane" or "Under The Sky" are as good as anything great on the other records). Don't you like "Their Satanic Magestic Request" or "The Secret Life Of Plants" ? No ? No ???
Well, right, try to have hits first, make money, then you have earned the freedom to go berserk while producing your records (and drink as much whiskey in the studio as you can !).

Greets,
Francois.
