So - I HAVE to do this and I see no other chance than taking this way.
Dear Mr. Damian "half a century" O'Neill.
For the next 50 years I wish you healthiness and an endless source of creativity, joy and safety, steadiness yet complete freedom of your mind, ideas and soul.
I wish you that the ones you love are safe from harm.
And I wish you always six strings on the Les Paul, countless sunny days and that you never ever run out of hope.
Imagine, when you first sounded into my life, I was 12 and you were 24 - blimey, that is 26 long years ago.
Eversince you - The Undertones, The Petrols, The Wavewalkers, the quiet revolution...make my musical day, the soundtrack to my life.
Thank you for that.
And hey - I just celebrated my birthday myself few days ago, so being a capricorn (and a leftie, by the way) myself I can tell you - we're tough ones.
No matter how stony - we always find a way.
So all the best, have a great day and take good care, greetings from Munich,
Anette

Hey Steve - belated congrats. Is that your first or second child? Kiss goodbye to proper night's sleeps, say hello to a lifetime of responsibility. But keep on keeping on.

Ohwow, Steve...very well done, he's gorgeous.
And....he does so look like you...lol...I imagine the hair (wet-flap-Spaghetti-look) on his head and I see you.
All the best for you and the little prince.
Take care...

'End of the....' is a great record, leave it alone!
Can't believe I didn't know until today that the band had toured again. Saw them in Manchester, just after V2 but before Manic Pop Thrill, at the International. Seem to remember that Steve was a bit pissed off that there wasn't much dancing going on. And because of some members of the audience repeatedly called out for 'Teenage Kicks'. I was hooked though and saw them proabably at just about all of their subsequent Manchester gigs.
I think part of the reason I loved 'End of the...' is that I'd heard some of the funkier tracks live more than once and was very keen to have them on vinyl. Funnily enough I was talking to a friend on a train only yesterday and he was talking about his favourite gigs ever (Pink Floyd in Paris and Ike and Tina Turner if you're interested). I considered trying to describe the sheer joy of TPE live - the unexpected covers*, the changes of mood, pace, style etc etc., but it usually meets with incomprehension.
I hope more tours and more records are pending?
Oh - and congratulations Steve.
