Stage Times – UPDATE

Kate, who is doing lights for us this time around suggested we put our expected stage times on the site. Seems like a great idea, so here you go:

Portsmouth: 10PM

London: 9PM (I imagine this will slide to 9:15-9:30)

Hop Farm Festival: UPDATE: 12:10 PM – 12:55 PM – This is twenty minutes later than originally scheduled, and now we have a 45 minute set! Brilliant!

Nottingham: 9:30 PM

Manchester: 9PM (again… 9:15?)

Leeds: 9:15 PM

Newcastle: 9:15 PM

T in the Park: 12:10 – 12:40 PM – Another short set. Harumph.

Oxegen: 4:05 – 4:50 PM

Okay, no excuses! See you there!

Birmingham post mortem

One down, nine to go!

Things got off to a slightly embarassing start when we realized we had left Ciaran’s cymbals in London. Uh, yeah. Thankfully the support band, a delightfully young group called the Dukes Jetty offered theirs. Thanks, guys!

(Like mid-60s Merseybeat? You’ll love the Dukes Jetty. Vintage down to the cuban heels and Burns guitar.)

Our set went down well. I managed to re-start the Blue to Black loop instead of Catch a Fire, and at one point punched the ceiling really hard (ow), but other than that had a great time. We played a couple of special tracks that we haven’t played in a really, really LONG time, but that were requested by folks in the forum. I won’t tell you what they were – don’t want to spoilt the surprise for those of you coming to a show this week!

Off to Portsmouth now…

Journos part II

We’re just about to get in the van and head up north to see our Brum brethren.

This rolls in, courtesy of Google Alerts. This time it’s the Guardian. No lyrical references, but we’re certainly on everyone’s mind this Wimbledon. What was it that happened at 2:20PM on this day to pop us into everyone’s head at the same time?

Hey, Venus Williams! You need a theme song. We’ve got just the ticket.

Click to see us name dropped in the Guardian sport pages.

Journos Still Coppin’ Our Licks

Nothing new here – obviously we had a knack for a turn of phrase. ;^)

But this is what, the millionth time this one has been copped? Super Furries using it as an album title, now they’re getting all Wimbledon on us. This one is so obvious, my question is how come it took so long?

Wimbledon… Venus Williams… you know where this one is going.

Check it out on the official Wimbledon site, at 14:21, another TPE lyric reference.

Let’s Get This Party Started

Reporting to you, live, from sunny London.

We had our first group rehearsal tonight and it was stonkin’, to use an old TPE phrase.

I’m jet lagged as hell and just found out that for some reason people care if Michael Jackson is alive or dead. Maybe it’s the jet lag, but I find this puzzling.

Anyhow, let me get a good night’s rest and then we’ve got a ton of news to post. Television, radio… all sorts of good stuff, and mostly because of YOU, our fans.

<yawn> Sorry – I really have to sleep now.

Time to get excited.

Remember when I got the Daves mixed up awhile back? I never did post Dave Walsh’s photos from the Electric Picnic. Well, In some ways that’s kind of good, because looking at these I’m getting really excited again. See you all very soon.

More news as it happens!

Rhapsody Session is open to the public!

So it turns out we *can* have people at our Rhapsody session. It’s just a studio, and we’re only going to play five songs, but hey, if you’ve got nothing else to do at 2PM, please come join us!

Green Screen Studios, 500 San Marcos, #109, Austin TX. Having problems? Call or text me at 206.601.6225.

Then, and only then, we can finally RELAX and see some other bands. BTW, Blue Aeroplanes and Ed Harcourt were both fantastic last night at our gig. This job does have some perks, and seeng those guys last night was definitely one of them.
